TRIP NOTES:
You will be hunting in the Piney Woods Region of East Texas. This area's thick underbrush supports a significant population of wild hogs that can grow large in the protective cover.

You will be hunting from elevated stands or ground blinds over automatic feeders. The most productive periods are just before dusk and right after dark, but it is important to remain alert as hogs may move in at any time. Feeders are equipped with night lights.

Scent control is important, as most of the large hogs will circle down wind before committing to coming in to feed. There is a shower at the camp and it is recommended that you stay as scent free as possible in order to maximize your opportunity at game.

Proper shot placement is vital in order to be able to recover your trophy hog. Vitals on a hog are far forward under the shoulder and low in the chest cavity. Thus, the best shot with a firearm is through the shoulders, while the best bow shot is to deliver an arrow low in the crease behind the shoulder after that shoulder has moved forward. Another excellent shot choice with a firearm is just behind the ear. The key for a chest shot is to hit both lungs and/or the heart. This will assure a quick kill and short blood trail.

Cedar Springs is equipped with a kitchen including dishes, utensils and pans, an outdoor grill and bathroom facilities. Please bring charcoal if you plan to use the grill.
